WHY: The Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers and authors, an alliance with businesses relating to writing, publishing, camaraderie and support.
SPEAKER: Sylvia Nobel resides in Phoenix, Arizona and is the author of the popular Kendall O’Dell mystery series. Her first book, Deadly Sanctuary, has just gone into its seventh printing and has sold over 1 million copies (including e-books). It is now a feature film starring Eric Roberts, Dean Cain, and Daniel Baldwin, premiering on March 23, 2015. Forbidden Entry will be her fifth book in the mystery series and will be released on May 15, 2015. Sylvia always tries to make her readers feel like they are an actual participant in the exciting adventures and share her love of the state as her vivid word pictures showcase the grander of wide open desert vistas, majestic canyons and breathtaking mountain ranges of Arizona.
Sylvia Nobel’s adventures as a writer are almost as dramatic as the stories she writes for her mystery novel heroine, Kendall O’Dell, although no one has been murdered, yet. Like most writers, she has written all of her life and explored various genres including, comics, children’s books, romance and now mystery. She has worked with big and small publishing houses, worked conventions, trade shows, festivals, fund raisers and writer’s fairs. The road to success has taken her through some treacherous territory and only her perseverance has brought her to the success she sees today with over 1 million books sold and a movie about to premiere and discussions for more movies in the works. Most importantly, Sylvia continues to do what she loves, write.
