January 30, 2023 by brooksadmin

SCOTTSDALE SOCIETY OF WOMEN WRITERS

Welcomes Caren Cantrell, Author of Various Genres

 Entrepreneur and Book Shepherd

WHO:            ALL women writers!

WHY:             Mission:  Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers and authors in camaraderie and support, and an alliance with professionals relating to writing, publishing, and marketing.

WHAT: SPEAKER CAREN CANTRELL Wed. 2-22-23

*Caren Cantrell has been a senior corporate executive, a small business owner, and is now an entrepreneur and author. Since establishing 102nd Place, a publishing services company, Caren has shepherded over 70 books to publication, including novels, self-help, memoir, business, and children’s books.

*Caren writes for the children’s market. She has published nine picture books, a middle-grade science-fantasy novel, and six non-fiction eBooks in the Planet Discovery Books for Kids series. She won 1st place in the Arizona Authors Literary contest for Sea of Surprises, 9th place in the Writer’s Digest short story contest for Crow and Scarecrow, and 3rd place in the Institute for Children’s Literature Mystery contest for Night Raiders.

*Caren will share what she’s learned about writing (it’s harder than you think) and marketing for children. She’ll discuss the multiple levels within children’s literature and the word counts and emotions specific to each. And she’ll have some tips for marketing to this specialized group.
