SAMPLES FROM MY NEW BOOK

AUDIENCE – A is for audience – know your audience – the primary audience that you will target –that includes your niche market.  And the secondary audience that encompasses those who will tell others about you and your book.  And the fringe audience you may not be aware of or anticipate, but who can catapult you forward on your journey.

BRAND – B is for brand – identify your book and yourself – the brand you will use in every way possible should be easily identifiable.  Try one that will accentuate the benefits of your book and who you are as a voice for change.  Or be a source for entertainment or education, an authority or advocate.

COMMUNICATE – C is for communicate – communicate consistently what your story is about and how your readers will find he content of value to them.

DIFFERENTATE – D is for differentiate – make yourself unique and different from other authors in your genre.  Stand out on the shelves and online by reinventing yourself often.  Be diplomatic about your approach to your uniqueness but be willing to let your star shine too.  Think beyond the realm of the obvious.

ETHICAL – E is for ethical – be lawful and ethical in all your dealings with booksellers, online vendors, readers and the public in general.  Don’t ever forget it is an honor to have them read your work.  Promote it wisely and with love and kindness in your heart.

FLEXIBLE – F is for flexible – be open and willing to be flexible when the need arises in all your interactions and opportunities with the Media.  Be prepared and be ready and willing to be available to tell your audience the features of your work through many options that are available to you.  Make yourself a sought after guest by being prepared and ready to go on short notice.

GENEROUS – G is for generous – give generously with the back story information you have while promoting your work by sharing in a blog or in someone else’s blog.  Be full of grace when you know you will generously get what you give out.

HUMILITY – H is for humility – be humble as you put together marketing pieces and share your strengths and expertise with your readers and the public.  Always keep your audiences in mind and give them what they need to know to appreciate your book and you.

INNOVATION – I is for innovation – create your own innovative ideas when you set-up for an event.  Be the ideal guest at the bookstore or festival, or whatever venue it may be.  Plan ahead and do pre-marketing that will benefit you, your book and the event.  Be the author who stands out as the team player.

JUMP-START – J is for jump-start – give yourself and your book a push by jump-starting your promotions 3-6 months in advance of your book launch or any event after the book is out.  Find joy in all the effort that you put forth and have faith that it will not be in vain.

MISSION – M is for Mission – write a mission statement for you and one for you book and one for your marketing plan in your concise sentences – maybe just a couple sentences each.  Be sure to encompass your goals, dreams and vision for success for you and your book and your readers.  Make them magical and memorable.

NAVIGATE – N is for navigate – weave your way through the maze of social medic options one opportunity at a time.  Find your niche market and focus on them first and build an online present from there.

OPPORTUNITY – O is for opportunity – seek every opportunity that comes along as a possibility.  Analyze it, research it and consider it before going to the next option.

PASSION – P is for passion – be passionate about your book and your message at all times.  Find your purpose with your promotional journey and seek high ground with your primary market and work your way down the line to your fringe audience.

QUESTION – Q is for question – be curious enough to question everything that does not come together with your marketing effort. Do not be afraid to tweak it a bit and try again.  Query successful authors and ask for help or opinions so you can help others on your path to success.

RESPONSIBILITY – R is for responsibility – take responsibility for your marketing plans, track everything you do, stay positive about your goals and don/t give up on an idea easily.  Be resilient for your readers and get your book out there for them.  Ask for reviews from your readers and give them a chance to be responsible too.
