Mission:  Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers/authors in camaraderie and support, and an alliance with professionals for writing, publishing, and marketing.

SPEAKER/AUTHOR: Susan Magestro. When people are running away from rage and violence, Susan Magestro’s unique, thirty-five-year career has evolved into one of running into chaos. The goal is always about averting a tragedy. Susan Magestro: criminologist, interventionist, international presenter, and university instructor is now returning to writing full-time. As a former newspaper columnist and author, she is excited to be merging her two passions: the world of criminology and writing. She has keynoted and lectured internationally and throughout the United States at over two hundred conferences. She is currently completing her first novel in a series called, “Priscilla Breen, Criminologist: The Capture. Susan resides in Arizona and Alaska with her husband, Mini-Aussies, and growing family.

The meeting is being held at the Panera Bread in Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, 8777 North Scottsdale Road, of Doubletree.

GUESTS: If you have a GUEST, please text Patricia at 480-250-5556, or have your guest contact her directly. Guests may visit on two occasions, and then we ask them to join us as full-time members.

PRICING: Meeting cost is $20.00: this covers the food and the room. The menu will consist of sandwich choices, salad choices, chips, cookies or brownies, and a variety of beverages. The food at this venue is fresh and good.

DUES: Dues are $50. For your membership, you will receive a copy of the directory, the monthly newsletter, member support at all Scottsdale Society of Women Writers events, and other happenings with the group and the area’s writing community. Plus, a plethora of professional speakers will be scheduled during the year. Contact Patricia L. CHECK-IN: Please check-in at the restaurant between 5:15 and 5:30 pm. This allows you to mingle, go through the buffet line and settle in for the meeting. Themeeting starts promptly at 6:00 pm AZ Time.Thank you.

Goals of the Group

  • Value all the professional women writers sharing their ability.
  • Honor all genres and all forms of professional writing.
  • Attend monthly meetings to move the group and its members forward.
  • Learn and share in the experiences of monthly professional speakers.
  • Grow the group to a membership of active and contributing women.
  • Encourage participation by members as mentors, and volunteers.
  • Support and challenge each other to always be writing.
  • Help members to stretch as writers and reach lofty personal goals.
