SPEAKERS:  Michael Hale, Children’s Book Author and Illustrator

George’s Curious History:  What I’ve learned about Monkeys in the publishing business.  Character driven picture books are a staple in children’s literature.  Some characters can become so beloved that they create legacies that last for generations.

SPEAKERS 6:45: Five years ago, Jennifer Kahtz “fired” her boss and hired herself. Tired of working in an unfulfilling career in the medical field, she decided to pursue her dream of helping to create positive social change. The question remained: how could she do this and still pay the bills? That’s when Emotive Pull Communications was born.  Jennifer observed the power of human connection in her life, and knew that if she could harness that power, she could help heart-centered businesses break free from mediocrity and change the status quo. She does this by helping companies to emotionally connect to their audience, then strategically positioning them to be successful. She helps businesses uncover their why, soul, and mission so that people become endeared to their brand.

In today’s talk, Jennifer will be sharing an experiential story about how she transitioned from the medical profession into a self-taught writing career and the creation of her own marketing content business, Emotive Pull Communications.

She’ll relate real-life experiences that reveal: (1) the journey of creating a new reality and the twists and turns that taught her how to create content that really pulls an audience emotionally, whether it’s for a book, author or business (2) how she turned her passion into an income in hopes that you will learn something that will help you on your own journey (3) the societal myths that hold us back from taking the action steps necessary to do what we really want to do (4) why creating communications based on emotional psychology is so effective (5) how she makes a living teaching other how to create content that sells

She’ll share solutions for how to: (1) write great book titles/taglines that people want to buy (2) stand out from the competition  (3) create compelling blog titles with language that pulls your specific audience based on their emotional drivers (4) add personal writing into your blogs while keeping it professional, along with essential blog dos and don’ts  www.emotivepull.com

SPEAKERS 6:45: KATRINA SHAWVER, biographer and former journalist

Katrina will discuss her path from initial idea to published author, and how she conducted extensive research for her nonfiction book. She will share ten specific lessons she learned as a first-time author, and marketing steps she considers essential for every author. Take home practical information authors in every genre can use.

Katrina Shawver is an experienced writer, speaker, and the author of the award-winning book HENRY: A Polish Swimmer’s True Story of Friendship from Auschwitz to America, released in November 2017. Her writing career began in 1997 writing columns for the Arizona Republic.

In 2002, she met Henry Zguda, an eighty-five-year-old Polish (Catholic) survivor of Auschwitz and Buchenwald during WWII. He lived a mile from her house. Based on gut instinct his story was unique and special, she soon offered to write his story knowing very little about Poland. She subsequently spent fifteen years researching Poland, World War II, and the Holocaust.

Katrina is the recipient of the 2018 Polish Heritage Award from the Polish American Congress of Arizona for “her contribution to the documentation of the suffering inflicted on Polish people during the Holocaust.” HENRY was named the 2018 Best Nonfiction Book by the Arizona Authors Association, among other awards, and is listed as recommended reading by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles. In Spring 2019 she served as Writer in Residence at the Glendale Public Library presenting multiple writing workshops and encouraging new authors. For more information Visit www.katrinashawver.com
