SCOTTSDALE SOCIETY OF WOMEN WRITERS
Welcomes Sherry Sklar, community journalist for the Arcadia News
Are you ready to listen to and ask questions of a well-rounded media pro?
WHO: ALL Women Writers!
WHY: Mission: Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers/authors in camaraderie and support, and an alliance with professionals for writing, publishing, and marketing.
SPEAKER/AUTHOR: Sherry Sklar is a community journalist, writer and former Wall Street and fashion publishing executive.
She currently writes for the Arcadia News, with past editorial roles at Phoenix Home & Garden, Mirabella Magazine, Vogue, and The New Yorker. Her career has spanned investor relations, public relations, and editorial production. She is enthusiastic about community storytelling and helping new writers find their voice, especially in a time when writing can connect us all.
In a candid talk, journalist Sherry Sklar shares her writing journey, from the fast-paced world of fashion magazines and Wall Street communications to neighborhood storytelling in Arizona. She reveals how community journalism became a creative refuge and a way to re-engage with purpose. Attendees will hear behind the scenes insights, real-world advice on breaking into editorial writing, and encouragement to write through disruption. This is a timely conversation for writers who are finding their voice or reclaiming it.
