WHY: Mission: Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers/authors in camaraderie and support, and an alliance with professionals for writing, publishing, and marketing.
SPEAKER Anne Robertson, Bio: As both a former journalist and longtime PR leader, Anne Robertson began her career at Simon & Schuster; gaining firsthand insight into how books reach their audience. Before joining InkFox Publicity, Anne spent 18 years leading the Public Relations division at LAVIDGE; supporting clients across education, healthcare, hospitality, and corporate sectors. Her newsroom background and strategic PR experience gives her a sharp instinct for what makes a story stand out.
With more than two decades promoting authors and brands, Anne blends media savvy with modern digital strategies to build meaningful visibility.
Talk 2/25/26: Book publicity has done a radical shift since the golden days of launch parties, multiple reviews, national media tours, and book signings – many in the publishing industry label it an “existential publicity crisis.” Today’s authors seeking readers need to build buzz before a launch – and long after. Social media, influencers, and reader communities now share the spotlight. We’ll talk about what still works, what doesn’t, and what’s new. Spoiler: you don’t have to do everything to do it right.

VENUE: The meeting is at the CHOMPIE’S at 9301 E. Shea Blvd., at the corner of 92nd St. and Shea, Scottsdale.

PRICING: Meeting cost is now $30.00: this covers the wonderful food, tax and 20% tip, and the spacious room. The menu consists of a tasty buffet, a special dessert, and a variety of beverages. I will be changing the menu each month to keep it interesting.
DUES: Dues will stay the same in 2026 at $50. For your membership, you receive a copy of the directory, member support at all SSWW events, and other happenings for the local writing community. A plethora of professional speakers appear throughout the year.
